This year's Roundup, which will be held October 11-14, is an intensive, four day workshop in which participants have the opportunity to work closely with professionals in the following artistic disciplines: creative writing, drama, photography, and visual arts. During the program, each participant lives and works on the Hobble Diamond Ranch outside of Greycliff, MT with other students, adults, and professionals in his or her discipline from across Montana and from Pennsylvania. Every participant produces a body of work that is showcased on the final evening in a performance that is open to the public.
There are approximately 25 openings available to students from Montana. The tuition and room costs to attend are underwritten by the generous support of the Burch and Burke families. There is a $60 meal fee. Scholarship aid is available, and the request for assistance does not affect an applicant’s eligibility.
Applicants need not already be exceptional artistically in order to qualify; they should, however, have an active interest in enhancing their arts education, the ability to work independently, and the desire to learn from an experience that will be challenging both intellectually and socially. Past participants have expressed that attending the Arts Roundup has deepened their perspectives on how they view themselves, expanded their relationships with other students and adults from around the country, and strengthened their understanding of the importance of the arts to the human community. The Big Timber Arts Roundup is truly a special opportunity.
